I cannot express my immense relief to not only be working again and have an income, but also to have a set schedule again.
A lot of my friends were saying about how jealous they were that I got to have such a nice, long break from working between October and February. While they weren't wrong -- it was nice to have a break -- I'm too young to be retired at this point in my life. I needed a job and with the fact that I had just graduated with my Master's in Psychology, I wanted something that was in my field.
But... this proved to be a difficult task. Finding a job in my field, that paid better than my previous job, that I didn't need either clinical licensing or a Doctorate... it was a struggle. But I did it.
The whole process from reaching out to the agency that I'm with now to actually accepting and starting the job took a total of 16 days, I believe. I reached out to them with my resume and said, "Hey, I see you're hiring, I'm interested. Let me know." Two days after that, I got an email from their HR saying basically "Phone interview?" because, you know, Covid. Phone interview happened and during the interview they asked about my Bachelor's degree. I had said, yes that I received my Bachelor's back in 2015, but in December 2020 I completed my Master's in Psychology. At that point, the whole interview seemed to change. Their interest seemed to change (for the better!). The girl on the other end explained that with a Master's, I would get a higher pay, and a better chance of hiring. Sure enough, the following week, I got a phone call that they wanted to offer me the job.
Naturally, I took the job. It was in my field and it was EXACTLY what I wanted to do. Now, after being there for five months, my supervisor and I have discussed about starting me on Management training and getting me onto some committees and working towards management in the agency. I'm so happy and content with where I'm at and I really feel like I can do good work now!
I feel so much better.
