I had a dream once....
Well one class our teacher was discussing about sensitivities and about how the world was like "this bag of grapes"... And then he started to crush the bag of grapes. The squeaking sound of them was just awful--imagine a fork scraping on the bottom of a plate, or nails on a chalkboard! So naturally, because I have a sensory issue and severe misophonia** I covered my ears and cringed. Well my involuntary friend walked by my desk and warned me that if I kept doing that the professor was going to pick on me; I couldn't hear him though because of the squeaking of the grape bag and I had my ears covered (nice of him to try though, right?).
Well the professor did come over with a full 2 liter bottle of soda and just says "squeeze this" and aims it at me. I frown and look around the room, then think about the rest of my day. I have three other classes preceding this one. I have no choice. I'm doomed. I do as I'm told and as the soda is drenching me, the professor begins to explain how life isn't fair (literally) and how the soda is a metaphor for the internal struggle that we all face when something in our lives goes wrong--essentially, the idea of "When it rains, it pours."
Well, after the professor is satisfied that he's punished me enough he walks away and I'm sitting there soaked for a bit, no longer paying attention to class and a few moments later my 'friend' walks by my table... Drenched. I say to him, "Took one for the team, huh?" And he says, "It's because I stood up for you. I couldn't let someone as nice as you suffer alone. No one should ever be alone. Especially someone like you." And then I woke up.
The sad thing about my dreams... I never see anyone's faces. They're just blurry, fuzzy messes. I could tell you everything else about that room, what everyone was wearing, their hair, skin color.... Ask me their facial features though, and forget it. It's sad really. I would have liked to know who my savior was so I could thank him properly.
